There are changes afoot–weather, festivals and fairs, and….fiber, of course. There are so many fun activities just around the corner, and we want you to be prepared for all the autumn awesomeness about to beFALL us.
The KAL begins the last Wednesday in August, and participants will meet at The Fibre Studio during Wednesday Open Knit/Crochet from 10a-12n (Aug 29, Sep 5, Sep 12, and Sep 19). Makers will have until the Charlotte Area Yarn Crawl to finish their sweaters.
Participants who register, use Fibre Studio yarn, and bring their finished Acoma pullovers (or even their WIP) to the Studio during the Charlotte Area Yarn Crawl will be eligible for a surprise at the end Crawl.
Charlotte Area Yarn Crawl
This year’s Charlotte Area Yarn Crawl (CAYC) celebrates it’s tenth anniversary here in the Queen City. The Fibre Studio and CAYC are both sponsoring Knitted Knockers.org as our autumnal community support project. Contact us here to learn how you can get free fiber to create prosthetics for breast cancer patients and survivors.
During the CAYC, The Fibre Studio is going to participate in a FIRST! We will host Old Soul Fiber Co. for a trunk show in our Studio. That’s right, y’all…we have a guest indie dyer from upstate South Carolina joining us for the first Saturday (September 22, from 10a-6p) of the Crawl. It will be an INDIExtravaganza for those who love hand-dyed yarns. We love the idea of sharing our space with this talented maker. Be there or be oh-so-very square.
Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair
A reminder to add another exciting event to your calendars. The Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair (SAFF) will be held October 26-28, 2018.
This is one of the largest fiber festivals in the southeast and is a perfect opportunity to schedule a girls’ day out or even a weekend retreat. Be prepared to learn about fiber-producing live stock, take classes, shop, and generally have a total blast. More info to come soon.
