January Sweater KAL
The Fibre Studio is announcing a January Sweater Free-For-All Knit-Along. January is a great month to have a sturdy project warming your lap. We will gather during our first (Spinning) Saturday in January (the 6th) to cast on or pick up our project. We will continue for the next several Wednesdays (during Open Knit/Crochet) and into February. KAL Gathering Dates are: Jan 6, 10, 17, 24, 31 and Feb 3, 7 in total.

We’ve added a diverse selection of lovely sweater and cardigan patterns to our online shop. There is something for just about everyone. Top Row Below (L to R): HVIDE, Gretchen, and Donner. Bottom Row Below (L to R): Whippet (Long), AntlerFriday Anew, and VNeck Boxy.

Our most recent shop sample is the beautiful Granito, a pullover by Joji Locatelli, designed as part of her FAVORITE THINGS collection. Granito is a basic sweater with a relaxed fit and big pockets on the sides. It’s the perfect garment for lounging and relaxing. It’s worked seamlessly from the top down.

Our lovely shop sample was knit in our Merino Bamboo – Fingering yarn (on sale today) in color way Charcoal by the very talented Linda R. Our Granito will be displayed during the months of December and January for any of you who would like to take a closer look.

Have a previous favorite you never started or completed? Bring it and knit-along with us. We continue to love Hitofude, Chance of Showers, Juicy Gloss, Winter Wheat, and Tegna. One of our associates is even going to FINALLY begin her Easy Folded Poncho. There are no wrong choices and today’s Cyber Monday Sale makes buying the yarn and the pattern a “snap” and a bargain.

Spinning Saturday
Attention all spinners! Our last Sit & Spin Saturday of the year will be December 2. Bring your wheels, your roving (or find hand-dyed roving in our studio), a brown bag lunch, and your current projects to sit and spin with us on an on-going basis on the first Saturdays of the month. All skill levels welcome.

Holiday Potluck Luncheon
Help us celebrate the holidays by bringing a dish to share during our December 6 Holiday Potluck Luncheon, from 12-2pm following our Open Knit/Crochet group (10am-12pm).

The Fibre Studio will provide cups, plates, napkins, and cutlery; however, we ask participants to bring a dish to share as well as any serving ware, specialty items, and extension cords for any Instant Pots, slow cookers, or other electronic devices they may bring.

Should you be interested in attending, please RSVP to our Facebook Event Page so we have an approximate headcount. Thank you!

Dyeus Interruptus
Please Note: Our dyeing studio will temporarily hibernate after November 30. We will not take any new dyeing orders during the month of December as we sell existing inventory, restock supplies, update our website, and plan our holiday time with family. We will pick back up after the new year. Our retail space will still be open during regular business hours in December through the 22nd.

All the Shades of Truth

Hi Everyone,

Recently inspired by the beautifully updated photography for the pattern All the Shades of Truth, by designer Laura Aylor, we were encouraged to identify ways in which we could make this lovely wrap our own AND take it to the next level. Hence, The Fibre Studio has created All the Shades of Truth kits in our Walkabout – Fingering, the details of which are listed below.

All the Shades of Truth is a lovely garter stitch wrap inspired by the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. It is knit in one piece modularly by picking up stitches to knit in different directions. The name is derived from a Game of Thrones passage, “…Black and white and grey, all the shades of truth…”

Using a fingering weight yarn, the finished wrap is 18.5 inches x 78 inches with a gauge of 22 stitches and 44 rows equaling 4 inches in garter stitch.

Yarn requirements & kit descriptions are as follows:
NOTES: This pattern also comes with a scarf pattern called Oak Park, which is a smaller color-blocked version of All the Shades of Truth. With the purchase of this kit on our eShop hereThe Fibre Studio will purchase the All the Shades of Truth pattern for you and update you via Ravelry so please remember to include your Ravelry ID in the notes/instructions section at checkout.

If you haven’t already done so, Save the Date for our quickly-approaching June 10 World Wide Knit in Public Day Celebration.

Starting Point Wrap MKAL by Joji Locatelli

The Fibre Studio has put together Starting Point Wrap MKAL Kits for Joji Locatelli’s new Starting Point Wrap MKAL. Each kit contains five full-size skeins of Walkabout – Fingering, a 3-ply light fingering yarn with lovely stitch definition. Each skein weighs 4.0 oz | 113 g with approximately 490 yards of 100% SW Merino goodness. Our color kits (as pictured in grouped image) are: Cherokee (top left), Black to the Fuchsia (top center), Meteor (top right), Azure (bottom left), Mountaineer (bottom center), and Darkside of the Rainbow (bottom right).

The kit does not contain the pattern, which must currently be purchased via the designer’s Ravelry page.

From designer Joji Locatelli’s Ravelry Project Page:

Welcome to another rare mystery knit-along adventure with Joji. In the quest to knit this beautiful wrap (stole), we will have fun unveiling each clue while playing with color and texture. I wouldn’t want to make any knitter disappointed with the finished outcome, but the point of a Mystery Knit Along is not knowing what you’ll be making, there’s always that risk. Therefore, here are some facts about the wrap that will help you decide if you will like to embark on this project:

  • The shape is a true rectangle. This wrap can be worn as a wrap, blanket scarf or even as a blanket.
  • Approx. measurements are 26½ x 72” (66 x 180 cm) blocked.
  • It has a graphic look, but it is still classic.
  • You will need yarn in 5 colors and you will use up a lot of your yarn, so you need full skeins.
  • The total approx. yardage is 1700 yards (1555 m). It is a BIG wrap. Please be aware of this.
  • There will be 5 different clues, spread out over 5 weeks.
  • It is good for all levels. There will be TV knitting and more engaged knitting. You will sure have fun.
  • There is no brioche involved. There are no short rows either.
  • There is a little bit of simple lace, about 10% of the total project.
  • There is a lot of garter stitch.

SHARING
We will be using 2 hashtags in social media: #jojimysterywrap and #startingpointmkal.

Oh Mairlynd!

Image

We love to give shout-outs to those vendors who provide us some of our greatest pleasures. This month, we are supporting one of our favorite designers, Melanie Berg (aka @Mairlynd).

For several years, The Fibre Studio and our customers have ooh’d and aah’d over Melanie’s patterns.  We’ve saved, loved, and purchased her patterns and forwarded her social media posts, usually with the comment,”Have you seen THIS one?!”

We’ve knitted alone and A-Long, all within our small community.  But, hey world…we are branching out!

In support of the annual Mairlynd Any Shawl KAL, to begin next Monday, May 9, we encourage our readership to put the revelry back in Ravelry and join us in person (at our dyeing studio on Wednesdays, from 10am to 2pm) or online at The Fibre Studio Ravelry KAL or alternately join Mairlynd’s Ravelry KAL.

So what’s in YOUR queue from Melanie Berg? It can be a new project or a work in progress!

Have you Rheinlusted over shawls such as On the Spice Market?  Used your 50 Shades of Gradient to move a Spark of Grey into the light of Sunwalker or Solaris? Are you WIP’d by an Ashburn?  Or Perhaps, Perhaps you finished your one-on-one with The Miller’s Daughter and moved on to A Joker and a Thief?

Heno Joker and Thief

We hope you have and hope you will again. There’s no judgment here. What happens at The Fibre Studio stays in the studio…except when it’s on a KAL!

Please visit our Ravelry or Facebook pages to share your project pictures and happy stitching, y’all!
